Your Business Needs Help. I Need Retirement Money. This Could Work Out Beautifully.
Howdy, y’all! I’m Misty, a 56-year-old Texas woman with 40 years of work experience, a stubborn streak, a heart for helping people, and a retirement plan that’s still very much under construction.
I’m a mom to adult twins and a son, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and the proud owner of Boris, my German Shepherd, who contributes absolutely nothing to the household income but seems perfectly comfortable with that arrangement.
For 40 years, I worked in healthcare and customer service, spending more time outside my own home than inside it. I’ve helped people, solved problems, answered questions, and dealt with enough unexpected situations to know that life rarely follows the plan. Usually, it takes the plan, runs over it with a truck, and asks you to fix the mess.
Over the years, I’ve learned that I genuinely enjoy helping people. What I don’t enjoy quite so much is the idea of spending another 40 years working myself into the ground!
These days, I dream of a simpler life. I want to wake up, make a cup of coffee, enjoy my home, bake something delicious, tend to my garden, and help make somebody’s day a little easier. Preferably without watching my coffee get cold because I have to run out the door again.
I’ve traveled a lot, met some wonderful people, and collected plenty of life experience along the way. Now I’m happiest at home, enjoying the little things and occasionally having conversations with my dog that he clearly has no intention of answering.
So, one day, while thinking about retirement, I had a thought.
What if I could help people from home, use the experience I’ve spent 40 years building, and actually create a life I enjoy?
Well, here we are!
Welcome to Custom Phone Gigs, my little corner of the internet where real-life experience meets a willingness to help, a healthy dose of humor, and a woman who is determined to make this retirement thing work.
Now, here’s where things get interesting!
Need help with messages, emails, research, follow-ups, or those everyday tasks that keep multiplying until your to-do list needs its own zip code? I’m your girl. I offer virtual assistant help with a personal touch, because sometimes you don’t need a big company. You just need a real person who listens, follows through, and actually cares about getting the job done.
But wait, there’s more! And no, you don’t have to call now to get a second one free.
I also offer fun little gigs designed to make somebody’s day. I can sing Happy Birthday to your favorite person, make a friendly call to somebody who could use a kind voice, help you escape an awkward situation with a perfectly timed rescue call, wake you up like a real person instead of a rude alarm clock, read a bedtime story (even one I write myself, starring your child), pull a harmless prank on your favorite coworker, or send a handwritten letter that shows up in a real mailbox and makes somebody’s whole week. If it’s fun, odd, or a little bit ridiculous, I’m interested.
Basically, if you’ve got a task that needs doing, a message that needs delivering, or somebody who could use a good laugh, let’s talk! I even enjoy unusual requests. Some people collect stamps. Apparently, I collect ideas for ways to make people’s days more interesting.
Professional help when you need it. A little silliness when you want it. And a real person behind every service.
I’m not a giant corporation with 47 departments, a boardroom, and somebody named Kevin sending you automated replies at three in the morning. I’m a real person with real experience who understands that sometimes you just need someone dependable to lend a hand.
I believe business can be professional without being stuffy, helpful without being complicated, and enjoyable without everybody having to pretend they love meetings.
And yes, I will probably try to make you laugh. Consider that a complimentary side effect.
So, what’s the plan?
You get help with the things taking up your time, or a fun little surprise that makes somebody smile. I get to build a business from home, work toward retirement, and enjoy more of the life I’ve spent 40 years working for.
Honestly, that sounds like a pretty good arrangement to me!
I’m 56. I’ve raised my kids, worked hard, learned a lot, and earned the right to try something different. I don’t need a corner office or a fancy title. I’d just like to make an honest living, help good people, and drink my coffee while it’s still hot.
Is that too much to ask? Don’t answer that. I’m trying to stay optimistic.
If you need a helping hand, a real person who cares about doing a good job, or somebody with a sense of humor and a willingness to try something different, I’d love to hear from you.
Your business gets the help it needs. Somebody gets a reason to smile. I get one step closer to retirement. And Boris gets to keep supervising from the couch.
Everybody wins!
